My main telescope was purchased just before the shift from the "classic" LX-200 models to the GPS series. At least in the short term it has proved beneficial to have the older model! Early satellite tracking results with the GPS series have been poor with the scope unable to perform as well as it's older rival. Hopefully this will change once Meade release updated firmware code which will allow true variable rate tracking under software control. At least in theory this should make the GPS more capable than the classic.
